About this Award
He was an outstanding teacher who placed students at the very centre of his educational philosophy. As a very sports minded person, he felt that physical activity was an important complement to an individual's academic and social development.
Jean Grisé was also a visionary educator, with his vision being inspired by his convictions and being reflected throughout his career by his approach to teamwork and his positive and proactive attitude that inspired confidence and furthered everyone's development.
His love of life and passion for what he undertook meant that he left his mark wherever he went.
In addition to being a teacher, school principal and director of education, he was also Chair of the Conseil scolaire catholique de Timmins, Chair of the Comité consultatif de langue française du Collège Northern, Chair of the Centre franco-ontarien de ressources pédagogiques, and Chair of the Bureau des relations de travail for Ontario's 12 Francophone school boards.
Jean Grisé earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Ottawa and a master's in education from the Faculty of Education, in addition to a bachelor's degree from Saint Paul University. In March 2003, he posthumously received the prix Edgard-Gallant, which is awarded to a Canadian Francophone in recognition of his or her contributions to the development of French-language education in the field of educational management and administration.
The donor thanks the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through its generous matching contributions.
