Purpose of this Award

The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to graduate students in Biomedical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be registered full-time in an engineering graduate program in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa
  2. be engaged in thesis research in biomedical engineering
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  5. hold an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering

About this Award

This fund was established by the Ottawa Life Sciences Council (OLSC) and the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering (CSME).The OLSC is a not-for-profit organization committed to stimulating the growth of the Life Sciences sector in the Ottawa area. Through its programs, projects and events, OLSC strives to foster the development of new technologies and companies as well as raise the profile of the local Life Sciences Industry, both nationally and internationally. CSME is devoted to mechanical engineering in today's market. Its most important function is to provide specialized technical services required by its members and to encourage the organization and development of various technical divisions such as Engineering Design and Analysis, Manufacturing and Robotics and Material Technology. The founders of this fund appreciate the contribution of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario through its Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund program.
