About this Award
Michèle Kérisit led a full and inspiring life, one devoted to helping women through her research on
immigrant and refugee women, women survivors of armed conflict, Francophone women in
Ontario and senior women. She bridged the gap between theory and practice through her
constant and unfailing commitment to several women’s rights organizations. Intellectual, vibrant
and sensitive, she published a number of articles, research papers and books. As an educator,
she ensured that her students developed into social workers with a deep commitment to social
justice and research ethics.
Her husband, colleagues and friends, the Reflets journal, as well as other supporters of her cause, would like to honour Michèle Kérisit’s life by providing a deserving student with financial support to assist her in her studies, thereby ensuring that Michèle’s legacy lives on.
