Purpose of this Award

To provide financial assistance to students at the School of Social Work who have faced systemic barriers related to factors such as their culture, race, religion, (dis)abilities, sexual orientation or gender identity.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with the protected/refugee status or an international student;
  2. be registered as a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate program at the School of Social Work of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa;
  3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa; and
  4. have faced systemic barriers related to factors such as their culture, race, religion, (dis)abilities, sexual orientation or gender identity.

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire;
  2. a letter from the applicant (250 words) answering the following question:
  • How has having to face systemic barriers related to factors such as culture, race, religion, (dis)abilities, sexual orientation or gender identity affected your academic path, and how will receiving this bursary assist you?
