Purpose of this Award
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen
- be enrolled as a full-time graduate student at the University of Ottawa
- provide documented proof of First Nations status (certified copy of Indian status card) with regard to the list of eligible communities below
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
- demonstrate academic excellence
Recipients must be from one of the following communities.
Anishinabek First Nations: Aamjiwnaang First Nation, Alderville First Nation, Atikameksheng Anishnawbek, Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation, Beausoleil First Nation, Biigtigong Nishnaabeg, Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek, Chippewas of Georgina Island, Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point, Chippewas of Rama First Nation, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Curve Lake First Nation, Dokis First Nation, Fort William First Nation, Henvey Inlet First Nation, Long Lake 58 First Nation, M’Chigeeng First Nation, Magnetawan First Nation, Michipicoten First Nation, Mississauga 8 First Nation, Mississaugas of Scugog First Nation, Moose Deer Point First Nation, Munsee-Delaware First Nation, Namaygoosisagagun First Nation, Nipissing First Nation, Ojibways of Garden River, Pays Plat First Nation, Pic Mobert First Nation, Red Rock Indian Band, Serpent River First Nation, Sheguiandah First Nation, Sheshegwaning First Nation, Thessalon First Nation, Wahnapitae First Nation, Wasauksing First Nation, Whitefish River First Nation, Wikwemikong First Nation and Zhiibahaasing First Nation.

About this Award
The donors have observed that there are not as many scholarships for graduate students nearing the completion of their studies as for students at the beginning of their university studies. They wish this scholarship to reduce financial stress and allow recipients to focus on completing their studies.
