Purpose of this Award

This fund provides financial assistance and encourages English-speaking students attending university to pursue their postsecondary studies in their second official language, in this case French, thus contributing to the increase of bilingualism among Anglophones in Canada.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  2. have English as the first Canadian official language spoken
  3. have completed their high school studies in an English or non-official language (neither French nor English) institution, and graduated from said institution
  4. be enrolled full-time in a program at the University of Ottawa, minimum duration of two years
  5. be enrolled in a French or in French Immersion program
  6. take a minimum of 6 credits per term taught in French (take a minimum of 50% of courses per term in French for graduate programs)
Important: This bursary can be combined with other scholarships offered at the University of Ottawa and can only be granted once during their entire academic career. Special consideration will be given to students who: face financial difficulties and are from the first generation in their family to pursue studies at college or university level; and belong to an under-represented group or a disadvantaged minority.

  1. an unofficial copy of the applicant’s transcript from a high school
