Purpose of this Award

To provide financial assistance to Franco-Ontarian medical students whose education would otherwise be compromised.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be registered full-time in an undergraduate program at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa
  2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules
  3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  4. have French as his/her mother tongue or language of studies

About this Award

Physicians Chantal D'Aoust-Bernard (BscKN ‘87), François Laflèche (MD ‘85), Marc Lebeau (MD ‘80), Lise Scott (MD ‘80) and André L. Gauthier (MD ‘75) of the McArthur Medical Centre decided to contribute to this fund to help medical students in need; the doctors also wanted to thank their alma mater, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa, for its outstanding teaching and training, which has played a pivotal role in their professional success and their community involvement.

The founders wish to thank the Alumni Association and the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through their generous matching contributions.
