Purpose of this Award
To provide financial assistance to Franco-Ontarian students at the Faculty of Medicine whose education would
otherwise be compromised.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with the protected/refugee status
- be registered as a full-time student in the French stream of the MD program at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa
- be a resident of Ontario, as per OSAP rules
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
- have completed his/her high school studies in French and use French routinely to communicate

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:
- the Financial Questionnaire
- a copy of the applicant's high school transcript
About this Award
The fund was established by Jeanne Drouin (BA 66, MD 70), professor at the Department of Medicine and Director of
the Office of Francophone Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine and by Pierre Soucy (BA 63, MD 69), professor at the
Department of Surgery at the Children Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Assistant Dean (Admissions) at the Faculty of
Medicine. The founders wish to thank the donors for giving to this fund and appreciate the matching contribution of the
Government of Ontario through its Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund program.
