Purpose of this Award

To provide a bursary to students with significant financial need enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be registered as a full-time student in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa
  2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP ( Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules
  3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa

About this Award

This bursary is being established in memory of Marilyn McCarthy who passed away in Ottawa on June 18, 2000. It was Ms. McCarthy's wish that a bursary be established to assist disadvantaged students in financial need who are enrolled in medical school at the University of Ottawa.

The donor's estate thanks the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through its generous matching contributions.
