About this Award
The Andrew Isaacs Memorial Scholarship is intended to help carry on the dreams and aspirations that Andrew had in the field of Medicine, which he had such a passion for. At a very early age, Andrew wasn't your typical little boy. Instead of playing with toys, Andrew would be on a chair at the kitchen sink making potions. Whenever he was out grocery shopping, Andrew would always want to go down the cleaning products aisle to have read to him the ingredient labels on the products. At a very early age, Andrew began attending his first medical conferences, which he looked forward to attending, and he also subscribed to the New England Medical Journal. Andrew was very compassionate towards animals, and from this, he desired to become a veterinarian. After this point, Andrew's interests evolved towards research, and as it intensified, he bought his own centrifuge. As time went on, his fascination with medicine persuaded him to then shift his focus to cardiology. The family witnessed very early on what Andrew was destined to do with his life. He was truly gifted. Andrew had applied and was accepted at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa when tragedy occurred.
Andrew is dearly missed and loved, and is in our constant thoughts. It is our hope that the recipients of this scholarship will carry on Andrew's dream. Wishing you all the best on your journey and may God bless.
This scholarship fund was established in 2004 by his father, Steve Isaacs, who wishes to thank the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through their generous matching contribution.
