Purpose of this Award

The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to University of Ottawa medical students who qualify under the terms established by the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be registered full-time at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa
  2. be an Ontario resident as per OSAP rules
  3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  4. be involved with Inner City Health in some capacity

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire
  2. a short description demonstrating his/her involvement with Inner City Health activities

About this Award

The fund was established thanks to the initiative of Dr. Don Kilby, Director of Health Services, in memory of Antonio Tavares. Mr. Tavares was a friend of Dr. Kilby and was a contractor who was hired to fit up the Health Services clinic. Also, his services were retained by the clinic for maintenance and repair work. The donor thanks the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario for their matching contributions.
