Purpose of this Award

The purpose of the fund is to provide financial assistance to University of Ottawa medical students who qualify under the terms established by the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be registered as a full-time student at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa
  2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules
  3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa

About this Award

This fund was established in the year 2000 by Dr. J. Norman Sinclair, a graduate of the class of 1953. In establishing this fund, the donor wishes to recognize the contribution of Father Lorenzo Danis, the founder of the Faculty of Medicine. Also, the donor wishes to recognize the support he received from Father Danis while pursuing his medical studies.

The donor wishes to thank the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through their generous matching contribution.
