Purpose of this Award

To provide financial assistance to medical students who demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in Family Medicine.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  2. be registered as a full-time student in the final year of the undergraduate medical program at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  5. be matched to Family Medicine by CARMS
  6. demonstrate academic commitment and excellence, as judged by the selection committee

About this Award

This fund was established in 1997 by Dr. Eileen Alexander, Class of 1965, with son Shawn and daughter Lara, in memory of Dr. Gerald J. Alexander, Class of 1966.
