Purpose of this Award

Provide financial assistance to University of Ottawa medical students who are interested in pursuing a career in paediatric medicine.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  2. be registered as a full-time student at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa. Preference will be given to students who are registered in the final two years of the MD program
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  5. show serious intent to pursue a career in paediatric medicine
  6. demonstrate academic excellence

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire
  2. a letter stating serious intent to pursue a career in paediatric medicine
  3. an evaluation of acceptable performance during paediatric clerkship

About this Award

This fund was established in 1997 by Dr. Barrett Adams, paediatrician, alumnus of the class of 1959, President of the Faculty of Medicine Alumni Association 1969-1970 and 1996-97. The donor thanks the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario for their matching contributions.
