Purpose of this Award

Provide financial assistance to medical students who show serious intent to pursue a career in Family Medicine.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  2. be a 4th year student in the MD program at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa, who has applied or been accepted in a family medicine residency program
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  5. demonstrate academic excellence

The scholarship was established in 1997 by Dr. Peter Nowosielski, Class of 1956, and Dr. Laura Nowosielski, Class of 1985. The donors thank the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario for their matching contributions.
