Purpose of this Award
To assist an Ontario resident undergraduate student enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine who
completed high school in French.

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with the protected/refugee status
- be enrolled as a full-time student in the French stream of the MD program at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa
- be a resident of Ontario as per OSAP rules
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
- have completed his/her high school studies in French

This scholarship was generously created by the estate of Dr. Fernand H. Lévesque. Dr. Lévesque
was born on May 19, 1926, in Sturgeon Falls, Ontario. He died on January 24, 2022, in Ottawa. Dr.
Levesque graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa in 1953. He was a
member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and practised general surgery
in Sudbury and Ottawa. Subsequently, he was a medical adviser for the Canada Pension Plan in
Ottawa.
