Purpose of this Award

Offer a scholarship to students registered to the MD program at the Faculty of Medicine who demonstrate financial need.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with the protected/refugee status
  2. be registered as a full-time student to the MD program at the Faculty of Medicine
  3. demonstrate financial need as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  4. be in good academic standing

About this Award

This fund was established by the family of Dr. David Malek in celebration of his 85th birthday. Dr. Malek is an MD graduate from the class of 1963 who has had a successful career as a family physician in the Ottawa community. He has long been involved teaching medical students through the PSD course.
