Purpose of this Award

To assist a graduating student at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be enrolled as a full-time third year student in the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, at the University of Ottawa
  2. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
  3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  4. demonstrate high academic achievement
  5. demonstrate exceptional contribution to the Common Law Section through a variety of activities

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire
  2. a copy of the applicant’s academic transcript
  3. a letter (max. 500 words) from the applicant describing their involvement or contribution in student affairs, the Ottawa Law Review, moot court, publications, cultural life at the University, community service, and athletics participation
  4. the applicant’s CV on Online Scholarships and Bursaries

About this Award

The County of Carleton Law Association Scholarship is presented to a graduating student for high academic achievement and exceptional contributions to the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, through a variety of activities. Membership and/or active involvement by the student in the County of Carleton Law Association is a strong consideration.

The mission of the County of Carleton Law Association is to advance the interests of its members and to promote the administration of justice by providing an accessible, quality law library to its members, as well as quality, affordable continuing legal education programs to Ottawa and Eastern Ontario lawyers. The association also advances the interests of its members in the practice of law and promotes liaison among its members, the judiciary and the government of the day. The CCLA provides guidance and leadership to members concerning the challenges facing the profession and promotes collegiality among members, in the interests of the profession.
