Purpose of this Award
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with protected/refugee status
- be enrolled as a full-time student in the second or third year of the English JD program at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, at the University of Ottawa
- be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
- be in good academic standing
- demonstrate a genuine interest in civil litigation, including tort and insurance law
How to Apply
Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:
- the Financial Questionnaire
- a copy of the applicant’s academic transcript
- a brief statement from the candidate demonstrating a genuine interest in civil litigation, including tort and insurance law, and/or showing participation in one of the external moot court competitions sponsored by the Faculty
About this Award
Michael has also endowed this scholarship in appreciation of the education and training he received at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, and in thanks for the support he has received from his colleagues and friends at Hughes Amys LLP, (particularly Wendell S. Wigle, QC), the firm at which he has practised since his call to the Bar of Ontario.
Michael hopes that this scholarship will assist worthy recipients in attaining academic and professional excellence, and in achieving their goals and dreams.
