Purpose of this Award

To support students in the Civil Law Section who are parents or are returning to school.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with protected or refugee status, or an international student
  2. be enrolled full time in the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section of the University of Ottawa
  3. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  4. be a parent and/or be returning to school

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire
  2. proof that the applicant is a parent and/or a letter of interest (500 words maximum) indicating that the applicant is returning to school

About this Award

This scholarship was generously created by Gina Tizziana Gil Garcia (LLL ’20, LLM ’22). Newly arrived in Canada but with several years’ experience as a lawyer in her native Colombia, Gina overcame the obstacles associated with immigration through her determination and the support of her family. With this bursary, she wishes to lend a hand to other new arrivals to Canada who share her passion for law.
