Purpose of this Award
To annually award a scholarship to upper-year students who, while enrolled in the Common Law program, have
earned distinction by generously giving of their time, talent or treasure to community-minded projects, to help
build a compassionate, just, generous and inclusive Canada.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with protected/refugee status or an international student
- be enrolled as a full- or part-time student in the second or third year of the JD program at the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section, of the University of Ottawa
- demonstrate community involvement

About this Award
This scholarship was created thanks to the generosity of Mr. Craig S. Haynes, president of the University of
Ottawa Alumni Association from 2011 to 2014 and an alumnus of the Faculty of Law, Common Law Section (LLB
’99). This scholarship is intended to recognize students who, while enrolled in the Common Law program, have
generously given of their time, talent or treasure to community-minded projects, to help build a compassionate,
just, generous and inclusive Canada, and who have inspired others to do the same.
