About this Award

‘My country is the world, and my religion is to do good’ – Thomas Paine

This bursary was created by the Gariépy-Lajeunesse family to honour the memory of their son Michel who, in September 2009, was starting his first year in the civil law program. Those who knew Michel (Mike) remember an intelligent, funny and inspiring young man, impassioned by history and languages and engaged in both the university community and the life of his friends. In their desire to pursue the ideals held by Michel, the Gariépy-Lajeunesse family wants to support civil law students interested in human rights and motivated to making our world a better place.
