About this Award

The Faculty of Education established this scholarship through donations received in memory of Jan Kolaczek. Jan was a dedicated librarian and teacher at the Faculty. He joined the University of Ottawa in 1975 and spent his entire career at the University working in the libraries’ network. He began in the Faculty of Education where he was Head Librarian from 1981 until 1995. He later went to the Morisset Library, where he was responsible for coordinating the orientation program and electronic resources until his untimely death on April 14, 1999. A poet at heart, Jan’s integrity, kindness and professional competence was recognized and appreciated by all.

The Faculty of Education appreciates the contribution of the donors and of the Government of Ontario through its Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund program.
