Purpose of this Award
Financially support students at the Faculty of Education who demonstrate an interest in pursuing an education career
within the Catholic school system.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be registered in the Bachelor of Education at the Faculty of Education, English program, at the University Ottawa
- demonstrate interest in and motivation for pursuing an education career within the Catholic school system
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service

About this Award
Dr. William Crossan, a visionary, is remembered for his humility and his strong commitment to provide, enhance and
celebrate quality Catholic education for every child. As a teacher, principal, superintendent and Director of Education,
he brought wisdom, compassion and enthusiasm to every situation. "He ain't heavy, he's my brother", a quote from
one of Dr. Crossan's favorite songs, was a philosophy that characterized his life and his work as a leader and role
model. The purpose of this bursary is to honour Dr. William Crossan and his contribution to Catholic education in
Ontario. This bursary was initiated and is sponsored by the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association Ottawa
Carleton.
