Purpose of this Award
To support undergraduate students at the Faculty of Education who demonstrate financial need and have
distinguished themselves through community engagement.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with protected or refugee status, or an international student
- be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the Faculty of Education of the University of Ottawa
- be a racialized person (member of a visible minority), that is, a person other than an Indigenous (Aboriginal) person who is non-white in colour or race, regardless of place of birth or citizenship; OR
- provide documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
- have had involvement in an activity related to social justice, inclusion and equity
How to Apply
Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:
- the Financial Questionnaire
- a letter (max. 500 words) explaining how the applicant has been involved in an activity related to social justice, inclusion and equity
- documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure (if applicable)

a statement of self-identification (for applicants who identify as a member of a racialized community as per the Ontario Human Rights Commission policy and guidelines on racism and racial discrimination section 2.1 (“‘Race’ — A social construct”) (if applicable)
