About this Award
This scholarship fund was generously created in honour of Claire Vivianne Piché, a class of 1962 arts graduate,
by her family. Claire Piché was a Franco-Ontarian educator whose life was marked by a deep passion for
education, literature and the simple joys of living. After attending St. Mary’s Academy in Haileybury and the
University of Ottawa Normal School, she taught for 14 years in Welland, Ont., and later spent two years teaching
in Germany. Upon her return to Canada, she continued her teaching career and furthered her education,
eventually becoming a consultant in North York. After retiring in 1991, she co-wrote French textbooks and
immersed herself in Toronto’s social scene. Claire Piché's work and leadership have left a lasting imprint on the
field of French education, and her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of educators.
