About this Award
This fund was established by Jean-Marie Thibault (Social Sciences, 1946) as a tribute to his parents and to their unwavering commitment to education. The University of Ottawa and the Thibault Family share longstanding ties: JeanMarie's two brothers and one sister, the late Elmo, Roger and late Lucette, all graduated from the institution, as did Jocelyne, Jean-Marie and Alexandra's youngest daughter. In establishing this fund, Mr. Thibault has also expressed his deep appreciation for the Oblate Fathers, who founded the University of Ottawa. In creating this fund, Mr. Thibault was thinking of helping students like his two grandsons, who graduated from l'École secondaire catholique Saint-CharlesGarnier in Whitby, Ontario. The donor thanks the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through its generous matching contributions.
