Purpose of this Award

To provide financial assistance to third- or fourth-year female students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (Finance option) program at the Telfer School of Management who demonstrate financial need.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with protected/refugee status
  2. be a third- or fourth-year female student enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (Finance option) program at the Telfer School of Management
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa

About this Award

Jean Desgagné is a corporate director, adviser and leader. He has deep C-suite and board experience in change and transformational leadership, risk management, innovation, platforms, technology, operations, finance, and data and analytics — with a focus on managing for tomorrow — in large multinational financial institutions, exchanges and market infrastructure. He leads change by building, fixing and growing future-focused businesses and organizations. He has been a senior executive and board member for regulated financial companies, government agencies, industry associations, universities and not-for-profit organizations, as well as an adviser to several startups and CEO of one.

Mr. Desgagné is a chartered professional accountant. He currently serves on the boards of CAA Club Group, CAA Insurance, Echelon Insurance, CPA Ontario and the Ontario Internal Audit Committee — IT Sector, and has been active in a number of community organizations. He chairs the Dean's Advisory Council for the University of Ottawa (Toronto) and has received the Trudeau Medal (Telfer School of Management), the Alumni Award for Commitment to the University of Ottawa and the Queen's Jubilee Medal.
