Purpose of this Award

Provide financial assistance to deserving students registered in an undergraduate program at the University of Ottawa and who are involved in the Portuguese community.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a person with the protected/refugee status
  2. be registered as a full-time student in an undergraduate program at the University of Ottawa
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  5. have a strong academic record
  6. demonstrate his/her contribution and involvement in the Portuguese community

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire
  2. the Curriculum Vitae on Online Scholarships and Bursaries, which must include details on the applicant's involvement in the Portuguese community

About this Award

An initiative of professors Victor Da Rosa and Carlos Gomes Da Silva, this fund was established in 2002 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Portuguese immigrants in Canada, which will have been celebrated in 2003.

The founders thank all donors for their generous donations and the Government of Ontario for its matching contribution.
