About this Award
The possibility of standing on the summit of Mount Everest reflected Sean's passion for fitness, health and leadership.
Undertaking inspiring physical and mental challenges was his way of bringing attention to, and supporting those, who face challenges everyday of their lives. On Friday, April 29, 2005, Dr. Sean Egan, Associate Professor with the School of Human Kinetics at the University of Ottawa died during an attempt to ascend Everest, the ultimate physical challenge.
This scholarship was established in memory of Sean Egan with funds raised from an inaugural event held March 24, 2006, entitled “Walk for Sean”. The fund will continue to be supported by private and public gifts, as well as funds raised through various, community fundraising events.
