About this Award
The André Poirier Fund was established in May 2002 during a cocktail reception at the Restaurant
Oncle Tom, 138 Wellington Street, Gatineau (formerly Hull), to commemorate the premature death of
our colleague André, aged 60. A first fundraiser was organized on that occasion to establish the André
Poirier Fund in his memory.
André Poirier was graduate of the Faculty of Administration (’62) at the University of Ottawa. He had always remained close to his alma mater and his faculty. He hosted countless receptions at his Restaurant Oncle Tom for the Trudeau Medal recipients, along with other prestigious events. The donors are grateful to the Government of Ontario for its matching contribution through the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund program.
