Purpose of this Award
To provide financial assistance to women students registered to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program or to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses program.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a woman
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with the protected/refugee status
- be registered full-time in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program or in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses program at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Ottawa
- be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
- demonstrate academic excellence
Note: Preference will be given to mature women students returning to the University to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and to registered nurses wishing to pursue their studies to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses.

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:
- the Financial Questionnaire
- a non-official copy of the applicant's transcript
- proof of status as a registered nurse (if applicable)
About this Award
This fund was created by Dr. Lorraine McMullen (Certificate in Public Nursing'48, BScN'48, M.A. EN'67, PhD EN'70), professor emeritus with the Department of English at the University of Ottawa. The fund was established in memory of her mother. The donor thanks the Alumni Association of the University of Ottawa and the Government of Ontario who helped create this fund through their generous matching contributions.
