Purpose of this Award

This is a second fund established by the DeWaan Foundation, to award a scholarship to an undergraduate or graduate student, who has made a significant contribution to the culture and heritage of the Lebanese community and, who has completed the first year of an undergraduate program at the University of Ottawa and is registered full-time in the second, third or fourth year of an undergraduate program or to a graduate program.

The Foundation appreciates the matching gift provided by the Government of Ontario through its Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund program (OSOTF).

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen (landed immigrant) or a permanent resident
  2. have completed the first year of an undergraduate program at the University of Ottawa and be registered full-time to the second, third or fourth year of an undergraduate program or to a graduate program at the University of Ottawa
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  5. be in good academic standing
  6. demonstrate involvement and commitment to university life and the local Lebanese community
Note: A recipient of this scholarship may reapply to receive it again but can only receive the scholarship twice in total.

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire
  2. the Curriculum Vitae on Online Scholarships and Bursaries
  3. a letter of recommendation addressed to the Chair of the Selection Committee confirming the applicant's university and Lebanese community involvement
