Purpose of this Award

Encourage academic excellence by financially supporting students in second, third or fourth year of the specialization in French, and who will register in third or fourth year of the specialization or to the Master’s program at the Département de français for the following year.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be registered in second, third or fourth year of the specialization in the Département de français of the University of Ottawa
  2. Intend to register in the third or fourth year of the specialization or to the Master’s program at the Département de français for the following year. Preference will be given to students who plan to register to the Master’s program
  3. be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP (Ontario Student Assistance Program) rules
  4. demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
  5. be in good academic standing
  6. be involved in student associations or social movements
The scholarship cannot be combined with scholarships from external organizations such as OGS, SSHRC, FCAR, etc.

How to Apply

Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:

  1. the Financial Questionnaire
  2. a letter from the applicant stating his/her intention to register in the third or fourth year of the specialization or to the Master’s program at the Département de français for the following year
  3. the Curriculum Vitae on Online Scholarships and Bursaries

About this Award

This scholarship was created by Madame Françoise Kaye, professor at the Département des lettres françaises (1964 – 1994), in honour of her son Bruno, who lost his fight with cancer in March 1989. The donor thanks the Alumni Association and the Government of Ontario who contributed towards the establishment of this fund through their matching programs.
