Purpose of this Award
The purpose of this bursary is to help students who are registered in a direct-entry faculty and who
demonstrate financial need to become the first member of their family to attend a postsecondary
institution. Students are considered "first generation" students if their father and mother did not
complete postsecondary education.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or have protected person or refugee status
- be a resident of Ontario, as per OSAP rules
- be registered full time in an undergraduate program, in a direct-entry faculty
- be a first generation student whose parents have not undertaken postsecondary studies
- demonstrate financial need
- maintain satisfactory academic standing

Universities in 2006 as part of the Government of Ontario’s Access to Opportunities Strategy.
