Purpose of this Award
Offer a scholarship to female immigrants to Canada who have arrived within the past ten years and show an interest in community development, to allow them to integrate well in the francophone community.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a woman and a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with the protected/refugee status;
- be an immigrant who arrived in Canada within the past ten years
- be a resident of Ontario;
- be registered as a full-time or part-time student in an undergraduate program at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ottawa;
- be taking a minimum of 9 credits per semester in French in the case of a full-time student OR be taking all her credits in French in the case of a part-time student;
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa;
- demonstrate academic excellence; and
- demonstrate an interest in community development.
How to Apply
Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:
- the Financial Questionnaire;
- a non-official copy of the applicant's transcript;
- proof of the date of the applicant's arrival in Canada;
- proof of residency in Ontario; and
- a letter from the applicant detailing her interest in community development.
