During her studies, she worked as an HR coordinator and then an HR adviser for the Government of Canada, specializing in hiring, performance management and talent management for senior executives. She was very involved in the Telfer School of Management. She was on the board of the Accounting Club and the Entrepreneurs Club, as well as a founding member of the Telfer Competitions Committee. She also served as president and coordinator of the Telfer Omnium financier delegation and chaired the organizing committee for the Omnium when it took place at the school. She continued to be involved in student leadership as president of the Regroupement étudiant des facultés d’administration de l’Est du Canada, where she oversaw external relations and represented 40,000 administration students in eastern Canada.
This bursary is an expression of Kim Vallières’ dedication to and appreciation of the Telfer school and her wish to ease the burden of students who, as she did, need help to pay for their studies. Through this bursary, she hopes to further equity and diversity at the Telfer school and help students meet their goals. She has chosen to create this bursary in honour of her parents, who worked so that she could have access to higher education, as they themselves did not go to university
