Purpose of this Award

To support an undergraduate student in the Faculty of Social Sciences or the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Ottawa who demonstrates financial need.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with protected or refugee status, or an international student.
  2. Be enrolled full time in first, second or third year of an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Social Sciences or the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Ottawa. *
  3. Demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa.
  4. Explain their goals and motivations in undertaking university studies.
*For students enrolled in the Bachelor of Social Sciences (90 units) or the Bachelor of Social
Sciences with minor (90 units), only those in first or second year are eligible.

About this Award

This bursary was established to celebrate and preserve the memory of Annemarie Desloges, a Canadian diplomat who was brutally murdered during a terrorist attack September 21, 2013, in Nairobi, Kenya. She was 29 years old and was working for Citizenship and Immigration Canada, seconded to the Canada Border Services Agency. Annemarie Desloges would have given the shirt off her back to help others, and it is appropriate that she continue to help others through this bursary.
