Purpose of this Award

To provide a scholarship to a deserving student registered in a Bachelor of Music program (piano performance) at the School of Music in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with the protected/refugee status or an international student
  2. be registered in a Bachelor of Music program (including the BMus combined programs) in the School of Music in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa
  3. demonstrate academic excellence
  4. show outstanding potential in piano performance and have the intention of pursuing a professional career as a performing pianist

  1. a letter from the applicant stating his/her intention of pursuing a professional career as a performing pianist

About this Award

This scholarship was established in 2001 by Nora Kelly. Mrs. Kelly is a former teacher and a noted historian of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. She is the author of The Men of the Mounted, and co-author, with her husband, of The Royal Canadian Mounted Police: A Century of History, and Policing in Canada.  She also is an accomplished pianist.
