Purpose of this Award
To provide a scholarship to a deserving student registered in a Bachelor of Music program (Voice Performance) at the School of Music in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, a person with the protected/refugee status or an international student
- be registered in a Bachelor of Music program (including the BMus combined programs) at the School of Music in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ottawa
- demonstrate academic excellence
- show outstanding potential in voice performance and have the intention of pursuing a professional career as a performing singer

- a letter from the applicant stating his/her intention of pursuing a professional career as a performing singer
About this Award
This scholarship was established in 2001 by William H. Kelly. Mr. Kelly is a former Deputy Commissioner and Director of Security and Intelligence of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. After almost forty years of service, he retired from the Force in 1970. He then lectured in Criminology for two years at the University of Ottawa. Since his retirement, he has lived in Ottawa and, with his wife Nora, has written several books on the RCMP and one on policing in general. Mr. Kelly was also an aspiring opera singer.
