About this Award

The fund was established by Edmund and Isobel Ryan in 2001. Mr. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Ottawa in 1936. He appreciated what his education contributed to his life and the role his alma mater, the University of Ottawa, played. From 1960 to 1978, Mr. Ryan was Secretary of the Municipality of West-Hull, now Chelsea, in the province of Quebec. In 1936, Mrs. Ryan, originally from British Columbia, began her studies in art. The first year, she was registered at the Manchester School of Art in England and continued for three years at the Oakland School of Art in California. Unfortunately, Mr. Ryan passed away a few days after this fund was established.
