Purpose of this Award
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or a person with protected or refugee status
- be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student in the Faculty of Engineering or the Faculty of Science of the University of Ottawa
- demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa
- provide documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure
be a racialized person (member of a visible minority) and defined as a person other than Indigenous (Aboriginal), who is non-white in colour or race, regardless of place of birth or citizenship
OR
be involved as a member of the LGBTQ2S+community
How to Apply
Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:
- the Financial Questionnaire
- documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure (if applicable)
self-identification from the applicant who identifies as a member of a racialized community as per the Ontario Human Rights Commission policy and guidelines on racism and racial discrimination section 2.1 (“‘Race’ — A social construct”) (if applicable)
OR
a statement (max. 500 words) describing the applicant’s own involvement in the LGBTQ2S+ community (if applicable)

CNEA focuses on multiple key objectives: ensuring that Canada’s world-class nuclear science and technology capabilities and knowledge at CNL continue to support federal government priorities in the areas of energy, health, safety and security, and environment; providing industry with access to nuclear science and technology expertise; managing Canada’s radioactive waste and decommissioning responsibilities to reduce AECL’s liabilities safely and cost effectively; and delivering an integrated capital and asset management program to revitalize CNL as a modern, world-class nuclear science and technology campus with safe, reliable and costefficient operations.
