Purpose of this Award
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, a person with protected or refugee status, or an international student
- be admitted as a new full-time first year undergraduate student to the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Ottawa
- be involved in or demonstrate leadership in the community service OR demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Office OR demonstrate academic excellence (admission average higher than 92.0 %)
- be a racialized person (member of a visible minority) and defined as a person other than Indigenous (Aboriginal), who is non-white in colour or race, regardless of place of birth or citizenship
provide documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure

be involved in the LGBTQ2+ community

be a woman
OR
be a student with disabilities
How to Apply
Submitted in the Online Scholarship and Bursaries portal, accessible via uoZone, and must include:
- the Financial Questionnaire
- a letter (500 words max.) describing the applicant’s involvement in their community or demonstrate their leadership in engineering
- documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure
self-identification from the applicant who identifies as a member of a woman or LGBTQ2+ or a student with disabilities or a racialized community as per the Ontario Human Rights Commission policy and guidelines on racism and racial discrimination section 2.1 (“‘Race’ — A social construct”)
