Purpose of this Award

Award a scholarship to a student from Northern Ontario who is newly admitted into an undergraduate program at the Telfer School of Management.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must:

  1. be a Canadian citizen
  2. be admitted as a full-time student in an undergraduate program at the Telfer School of Management of the University of Ottawa
  3. have completed his/her secondary studies in Northern Ontario
  4. have a minimum admission average of 80 %
Note : The selected recipient will receive his/her scholarship once he/she is registered at the University of Ottawa.

About this Award

This scholarship was generously created in honour of Mrs. Jodie Harrison and Mr. Philippe Comtois.

Jodie Harrison, Phil Comtois and Kallista Harrison-Comtois 

Jodie Harrison completed her bachelor of commerce with honours in finance in 1999. During her tenure at the University of Ottawa, she was very involved, working for InfoCampus, Off-Campus Housing and the Career and Development Centre. She also served as president of the student association and the alumni association. More recently, she has served as a mentor for the Executive Mentorship Program at the Telfer School of Management. Jodie is pleased to be back at BMO Nesbitt Burns, where she worked for over 12 years. Co-founder of the Fournier-Harrison Wealth Advisory Group, Jodie works with families and businesses to develop and implement financial plans, as well as providing investment advice to help clients achieve financial success. Prior to returning to BMO Nesbitt Burns, Jodie worked with TD Asset Management as regional vice-president, partnering with over 200 financial advisers in the National Capital Region. Jodie is a wealth adviser and has received her professional financial planning designation. 

Phil Comtois graduated with a bachelor's in economics in 1993 from the University of Ottawa. He played hockey for the Gee-Gees from 1992 to 1993 and was named a CIAU All Canadian in 1993. After attending NHL training camps with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals, he began his working career at London Life before joining BMO Nesbitt Burns in 1998, where he has been since. Phil's expertise is in estate and insurance planning, as the head of a team that services BMO Nesbitt Burns clients and BMO Private Banking clients for Eastern and Northern Ontario. In addition, he is part of the leadership team that manages the division nationally within BMO as national strategic adviser. 

While work occupies the couple's days, it is their family life, including daughter Kallista, that drives their passion for life.
