Purpose of this Award
Eligibility Criteria
The candidate must:
- be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or have protected person or refugee status
- provide documented proof of Indigenous identity, in accordance with the requirements of the University of Ottawa Eligibility for Focused Admissions, Scholarships, and Bursaries for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis People administrative procedure
- be registered full time, and for the first time, in an undergraduate program at a direct-entry faculty
- fulfill the admission requirements of the faculty in question (Arts, Engineering, Health Sciences, Science, Social Sciences, Telfer School of Management or the Faculty of Law, Civil Law Section)
- have a minimum admission average of 85%
- show leadership and engagement in your studies and extracurricular activities
Note 2: The University also provides a one-time award of $1,500 to applicants who are ranked second, third and fourth.
Note 3: Temporary interruption of your studies or registration part-time or as a special student will lead to your scholarship being revoked for the rest of your studies.
This scholarship can be renewed for the three following years provided that you: 1. maintain full-time registration in a direct-entry faculty; and 2. have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 8.5 or higher at the end of each academic year. Note: This scholarship can be renewed at 50% of its annual value if the recipient has a CGPA between 8.0 and 8.4 at the end of their academic year. Furthermore, the scholarship can be renewed for the full amount in a subsequent year if the recipient’s CGPA increases to 8.5 or higher.
