About this Award

The National Capital Region, the Outaouais and Eastern Ontario share a rich heritage and a fascinating history, but unfortunately, this history does not enjoy the visibility it deserves. Michel Prévost chose Caledonia Springs, the most celebrated hot springs in Canada, as the topic of his French-language master's thesis in history. Given that his topic inspired two books and various seminars and documentaries, Prévost has decided to give back and support a student studying in French at the University of Ottawa. The recipient's work will raise awareness of a new aspect of our region's history, heritage, geography, etc. Through this bursary, Michel Prévost hopes to increase appreciation for regional studies among the student population and raise its profile within the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ottawa.
